50 Years Young

In 2019, Woden Valley Youth Choir will celebrate 50 years of singing. First started in the lounge room of Don and Barbara Whitbread in 1969, the choir has gone from strength to strength sharing the joy of music with thousands of choristers and countless audiences.

February 2019

Woden Valley Youth Choir will celebrate its 50th birthday in February 2019. This will be an opportunity for past and present choristers to get together, share memories and sing!  Our Founders, Don and Barbara Whitbread will be there as well as Alpha Gregory who conducted the choir for 20 years from 1997-2016.  Come and say “Hello”

Date & Time: Tuesday 12 February, from 5.30pm – 6.30pm  at our usual rehearsal venue
Venue: Charles Weston Primary School building 6, 80 Woodberry Avenue Coombs, Canberra

OPEN REHEARSAL

This will also be in an open rehearsal for those interested in auditioning later in the month.  You can come and sit in rehearsals for Nova Voices (lower primary) and Borealis Voices (upper primary/lower secondary) from 4.30 – 5.30pm or Australis Voices (secondary and tertiary students) and Centauri Voices (young men with changing voices) from 6.30pm – 8.00pm.

If you’ve ever been involved in Woden Valley Youth Choir during its 50 year history, we want to hear from you. Whether you can join us to celebrate, or can share a memory from your time in the choir, we’d like to stay in touch to make our 50th birthday really special.
