Veronica is a passionate Music Educator with 11.5 years experience. Originally from Perth, Veronica is a graduate of the School of Music, UWA. She holds both a Bachelor of Music Education and a Masters in Music Practitioner Studies, in which she studied the role of reflective practice in all fields of music research. Her dissertation “Singing a Spiritual Identity in Catholic Worship” focused on the function of music in spiritual life.
Veronica has served as director of the WVYC’s Junior Choir since 2011 and directed he Intermediate Choir in 2008. Veronica received a certificate of nomination in the 2008 National Awards for Excellence in School Music Education (ASME). She has taught saxophone and clarinet privately and in studio settings, and worked as a Music Specialist in Catholic primary schools in Canberra from 2007-2012, establishing a classroom-based Choral Programme at St. Bede’s Primary in 2011.
A highly versatile musician, Veronica is principally a classical saxophonist. She studied under the guidance of Matthew Styles (UWA) and continued with Dr. Michael Duke of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She received a higher distinction AMEB Certificate of Music Performance (Saxophone) in 2012. As an active member of the Kodaly Music Education Institute of Australia and ACTMEN, she has an ever-developing interest in using the Kodaly Pedagogy in all facets of her teaching.
