Joining Woden Valley Youth Choir

WVYC offers choirs and vocal ensembles for young people aged between 8 and 25.

Young people love making music with others. In Woden Valley Youth Choir, choristers learn a huge variety of songs, work with composers, perform in amazing places, record albums, travel, make new friends and, best of all, have a GREAT time!

Please review our rehearsal times, locations and fees prior to booking an audition.

Joining Centauri Voices

WVYC saw a need to create an ensemble that could cater for boys with changing voices (from about age 13), and support them through this time so they can continue to enjoy singing, whilst learning new musical and vocal skills as they begin to experience their new voice.

Recent studies have shown the benefits gained from singing, and singing in a group provides young men with a collegiate, supportive atmosphere, where they can make new friends.

Everyone has a place where they can shine, and so we invite young men of any experience level to join us.

Auditions typically consist of:
  • Singing a song of the young person’s choice
  • Singing a verse/chorus of either Waltzing Matilda or the National Anthem
  • Singing a round, echo pitch and rhythm exercises
Auditions are kept friendly and informal and are an opportunity for us to get to know you and decide which of our choirs is the best fit for your musical success. Parents are asked not to be in the room for the audition.

The audition process will usually only take approximately 10 minutes. There is a small $10 administration charge to sit the audition.

Notification of the result of your audition is typically emailed within 1 week of the audition.
