Joining Woden Valley Youth Choir
WVYC offers choir groups for people aged between 8 and 21.
Young people love making music with others. In Woden Valley Youth Choir, choristers learn lots of songs, work with composers, perform in amazing places, record albums, travel, make new friends and, best of all, have a GREAT time!

To join the choir, young singers are required to attend a friendly and welcoming audition held to determine potential as well as ability.
There will be two rounds of auditions for the choir for 2019

Auditions typically consist of:
- Singing a song of the young person’s choice
- Singing a verse/chorus of either Waltzing Matilda or the National Anthem
- Singing a round, echo pitch and rhythm exercises
The audition process will usually only take approximately 10 minutes. There is a small $10 administration charge to sit the audition.
Notification of the result of your audition is typically emailed within 1 week of the audition.

OPEN REHEARSAL – 12 FEBRUARY
CHARLES WESTON SCHOOL

To find out what choir is like, you can come and sit in on our open rehearsals
- 4.30 – 5.30pm Nova Voices (lower primary) and Borealis Voices (upper primary/lower secondary)
- 6.30pm – 8.00pm Australis Voices (secondary and tertiary students) and Centauri Voices (young men with changing voices)
In between these two rehearsals you can join us in hearing from our founding director, Don Whitbread and his successor, Alpha Gregory, who between them led the choir for 48 years. There will be some singing and, of course, cake.
