Woden Valley Youth Choir is proud to present the annual Canberra Times Carols by Candlelight, held in December each year.

The 81th Annual Carols by Candlelight will be on Saturday 6th December 2025.

Event information

Location: Stage 88, Commonwealth Park

Time: 6.30pm (preshow from 6pm)

Accessibility: There is limited accessible parking around Commonwealth Park and Regatta Point, on Constitution Avenue or Allara Street. The event is held on the lawns in front of Stage 88 and it can get boggy and soft and may be unsuitable for wheelchair users.

This event will have Auslan interpreters, with thanks to AuslanServices.

Transportation options

There are road closures around Commonwealth Avenue on 6th December 2025. Please plan your travel and consider taking public transport to Carols by Candlelight.

"Parkes Way will be closed in sections in both directions:
• Eastbound: Closed from Glenloch Interchange to Coranderrk Street roundabout.
• Westbound: Closed for approximately 180 metres of Parkes Way under the bridge, between the on-ramp and off-ramp.


Commonwealth Avenue:

Closed in both directions between Parkes Way on ramp and Vernon Circle.
 

London Circuit East:

• Closed between Constitution Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue, with bus diversions in place.

Westbound and northbound detours:
• Use Barry Drive and Marcus Clarke Street as the primary westbound detour route.
• Alternatively, use Parkes Way westbound, connecting to Clunies Ross Street or other local routes as indicated.

 

Eastbound and southbound detours:
• Use Constitution Avenue and Coranderrk Street for eastbound travel.
• Alternatively, use Kings Avenue to access eastern city areas."​​​​​

Each year we rely on donations from individuals and businesses to cover the cost of this huge event attended by 5000 Canberrans each year.

Drone Policy

To ensure the safety, security and privacy of all attendees, drone use is not permitted at Stage 88 or within Commonwealth Park without prior approval from the event organiser.

Unauthorised drone activity may be reported to authorities and could result in penalties under national aviation and safety regulations.

 

Report the incident using the Civil Aviation Safety Authority's (CASA) online drone complaints form.
