Our Choirs
All our choirs rehearse on Tuesday afternoons during school terms, at Charles Weston School, 80 Woodberry Avenue Coombs.
Leonis Voices
Ages 7 - 12
Tuesdays 4:30pm - 5:30pm
Leonis Voices are our youngest choristers. As young musicians, they are at the start of their journey in the world of music.
Leonis is named for the stars in the Leo constellation (the lion).
Our Leonis choristers perform in our Annual Concert, Christmas Concert and other community events throughout the year such as Floriade and Carols by Candlelight.
Australis Voices
Ages 12 - 21
Tuesdays 6pm - 8pm
Australis Voices are our treble choir for older choristers, who we help mature, not just as musicians, but as people.
Australis means the south, and is used to describe the natural light phenomenon Aurora Australis, the Southern Lights.
Our Australis choristers perform regularly at events throughout the year, singing at citizenship ceremonies and memorials, Christmas in the City, Carols by Candlelight, Floriade and more. In 2023 they performed at the Canberra International Music Festival with the Djinama Yilaga Choir, False Relations and William Barton.
Centauri Voices
For changing voices
Tuesdays 6pm - 8pm
Our choir for young people with transitioning voices. In this choir, we support and nurture young people on their musical journey as their voices change.
Centauri refers to Alpha Centauri, the closest star system to our own and is one of the brightest lights in the night sky.
Our Centauri choristers perform regularly at events throughout the year alongside our Australis choirs. They sing at citizenship ceremonies and memorials, Christmas in the City, Carols by Candlelight, Floriade and more. In 2023 they performed at the Canberra International Music Festival with the Djinama Yilaga Choir, False Relations and William Barton.
Spectra Vocal Ensemble
Ages 15 to 21
Tuesdays 8pm - 8:30pm
Our boutique enrichment program extends the musicianship of choristers from Australis Voices and Centauri Voices identified as having exceptional talent and potential.
Spectra describes a band of colours, as seen in a rainbow produced by the components of light. Like the many voices of this group, greater than the sum of its parts.
